Despite being an artist under HYBE, NewJeans members have publicly expressed their love for former CEO Min Hee Jin on several occasions.
Even during their award acceptance speech, they thanked Min for her support.
NewJeans is no longer staying silent and has already chosen sides in the HYBR-ADOR feud. On September 11, they held a bombshell live broadcast through a new YouTube channel, which has now been deleted.
They accused HYBE of unfair treatment and gave an ultimatum to return ADOR to its original structure.
In a surprise 30-minute live broadcast on a YouTube channel, NewJeans spoke out against the unstable and unfair situation within HYBE, both before and after the ADOR incident. The group openly shared their concerns and feelings about the internal conflicts, including the sudden replacement of the CEO, and demanded that former CEO Min Hee Jin be reinstated.
NewJeans Accused HYBE of Unfair Treatment
Hanni described an incident where a team manager told another group member to “ignore” her when she said ‘Hello.’ She said it made her feel disrespected and unsupported. Despite reporting the incident to the new CEO, Hanni felt dismissed and unprotected, unlike during former CEO Min Hee Jin’s tenure.
Furthermore, Minji expressed concerns about the dispute between director Shin Woo Seok and ADOR, saying: “We are worried about our future, but it’s also scary to see our work being violated. If they really didn’t want to interfere with our production, they wouldn’t be handling the situation like this.”
NewJeans About CEO Min Hee Jin’s Dismissal
Regarding CEO Min Hee Jin’s dismissal, Hyein said, “We found out about the news of our CEO’s dismissal through an article on the same day. It was so sudden and something we couldn’t imagine, so honestly, it was really tough for us. We were in a state of extreme confusion. As artists affiliated with HYBE, the company’s one-sided notification made us realize that they don’t respect us at all. And in that chaotic situation, we heard through our manager that the new representative who came in wanted to greet us.”
NewJeans Gave HYBE Deadline About Min Hee Jin’s Return
Minji emphasized, “What we want is for Min Hee Jin to be the representative, and for ADOR to return to its original state with combined management and production. This is the way to avoid fighting with HYBE. If our opinion is conveyed well, we ask Chairman Bang and HYBE to make a wise decision to restore Adore to its original state by September 25.”
HYBE removed Min Hee Jin from her position as a representative on August 27 and appointed Kim Joo Young, an in-house director, as her replacement. Despite this, ADOR claimed that Min Hee Jin would still oversee NewJeans’ production work and retain her position as an in-house director.
However, Min Hee Jin’s side disputed this, citing an unfair one-sided dismissal notice from the company and an unreasonable proposal to take over production work.
