K-pop group NewJeans is set to appear on “Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show” – but their agency, ADOR, says they did not know about it until now.
In a statement to Newsen on December 24, ADOR revealed that NewJeans booked the appearance independently, without discussing it with the agency first.
On a recent broadcast of CBS Standard FM’s “Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show,” host Kim Hyun Jung teased an exciting Christmas special. She revealed that a mini-concert would take place the following day featuring a lineup of five guests: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
Notably, Kim referred to the individual members by name, rather than mentioning the group’s name, New Jeans, likely due to the ongoing exclusive contract dispute with ADOR.
All eyes are now on what the members will share during the broadcast. This will be their first domestic appearance since the emergency press conference held on November 28.
ADOR told Newsen, “(NewJeans’ appearance on ‘Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show’) was decided and carried out independently by the artist without discussion with the company, and the company did not know about the appearance in advance.”
NewJeans held an emergency press conference, announcing that they would be terminating their exclusive contract with ADOR. This decision came after the label failed to address contract violations within a 14-day deadline. As a result, the group declared that they could no longer continue their activities under ADOR, effective midnight on November 29.
Although the group acknowledged that they may not be able to use the name “NewJeans” for the time being, they emphasized that their identity and essence as a group would remain unchanged.
In response, ADOR took legal action, filing a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court earlier this month to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract with NewJeans.
