Just as NewJeans was working to settle the copyright dispute over Bubble Gum with Shakatak, a new accusation emerged.

Netizens are pointing fingers saying that their song How Sweet is a rip-off of a Malaysian indie band’s track.

NewJeans’ How Sweet is accused of copying the 2022 hit song, Summer Love, by Malaysian indie brand, Midnight Fusic.

Netizens are saying that the two songs have similar beats, background music, and delivery.

On the day of NewJeans’ How Sweet release, May 27, Midnight Fusic posted the song on their Instagram. It led many to believe they were sarcastically pointing out the uncanny resemblance to their own song.

Many fans pointed out that plagiarism was kickstarted by HYBE as ADOR’s CEO Min Hee Jin accused ILLIT of copying NewJeans.

Previously, British band Shakatak issued a letter to ADOR demanding answers and damages for plagiarizing their 1982 hit song, Easier Said Than Done.

A few months earlier, NewJeans was accused of copying the concept of Jeans (now known as JNS), a Mexican girl group.

The group can not seem to catch a break from all these claims, fans believe that these claims began popping up after the HYBE-ADOR conflict.

On the work front, NewJeans released their double single, How Sweet, on May 27, followed by their debut Japan single, Supernatural on June 21.
