NewJeans faced a turbulent year, starting with the HYBE and ADOR conflict in April, which is still ongoing, followed by comebacks, a Japan debut, and accusations of plagiarism.
It is only natural that NewJeans members feel exhausted from all this negative attention. On July 22, they celebrated their 2nd debut anniversary, thanked fans for their overwhelming support, and addressed plagiarism accusations the next day.
To add to the conflict, Dispatch reported that ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin intentionally delayed NewJeans debut and then accused HYBE of breaking their promise of debuting NewJeans as HYBE’s first girl group.
Following the Dispatch report, CEO Min Hee Jin refuted the claims and announced legal action.
In addition, on July 23, ADOR announced that NewJeans is taking a break to recharge after a challenging period, “NewJeans, who successfully completed this activity that went through many difficult challenges, will take a break to recharge and prepare to return with a new look.”
ADOR announced that Although they are taking a break, they will be releasing special content and schedules that will allow them to stay connected with fans.
Despite the HYBE-ADOR conflict, NewJeans made two successful comebacks this year and drew a crowd of over 90000 fans to Tokyo Dome during their two-day fanmeeting event.
