ATEEZ’s Wooyoung is serving up some serious bare-faced realness, and we can’t get enough!
Flawless, porcelain skin and symmetrical features have long been the standard in the K-pop industry. Idols go to extreme lengths, such as unrealistic editing, heavy makeup, and cosmetic procedures, to conform to the rigid beauty norms.
Even fans are criticizing agencies for brightening the idols and heavy editing, and want to see more of their natural tone. It was quite refreshing to see Wooyoung in his natural skin tone. The ATEEZ member made waves for simply being himself, without heavy editing or makeup tricks.
The photos were taken at the Incheon International Airport on the afternoon of May 30. All ATEEZ members left for Kuala Lumpur to perform at KPop Masters.
While all the press photos of their departure from ICN Airport were whitewashed and edited, some photos taken by the fans are doing the rounds on the internet. Wooyoung looks absolutely breathtaking without any makeup or concealer on. Recent photos of the idol reveal his natural skin tone, full lips, and even the small mark on his lower lip.
ATINYs (ATEEZ fandom) have the best reaction to his recent photos, some of the comments are:
“He is diagnosed with gorgeouface syndrome.”
“He is giving football player.”
“The blonde really brings out his golden skin too, oh my god, he is statuesque.”
“That’s hot asf.”
“I am gagged.”
For years, K-pop visuals have been synonymous with pale, even-toned complexions. This preference often leads to excessive photo editing, heavy foundation, and even skin-lightening treatments. Idols with darker or more natural skin tones are frequently whitewashed in official photoshoots, music videos, and magazine spreads. Their unique features are smoothed over to fit a narrow definition of beauty.
That’s why Wooyoung’s latest photos feel like a breath of fresh air. Instead of the usual brightened skin and blurred imperfections, fans see him as warm-toned, unfiltered, and unapologetically real. His full lips, often minimized with concealer in past shoots, are on full display.
On the work front, Wooyoung’s group, ATEEZ, will release their comeback album, Golden Hour : Part.3 on June 13. Following that, they will open their 5th world tour, In Your Fantasy, with two shows in Incheon. Shortly after, ATEEZ will kick off the North American tour with a show in Atlanta at State Farm Arena on July 10. So, the next few months are going to be packed for ATINYs with concerts, comeback promotions, and festival appearances.
