You know that feeling when your favorite celebrity recommends something and you just have to try it?
For fans of K-pop superstar Jennie, that’s exactly what happened when she shared her love for Nongshim’s snacks on a popular US talk show. Suddenly, everyone wanted to get their hands on those snacks. As a result, Nongshim’s sales and market value saw a significant boost.
Earlier this month, Jennie appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show to promote her newly released full-length album “Ruby”. During one of the segments, the BLACKPINK vocalist and the host Jennifer Hudson introduced snacks from Chicago and South Korea.
On ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’, she casually mentioned that Nongshim’s shrimp crackers, Banana Kick, and Gorae Bab are her go-to snacks. She gave a special shoutout to Banana Kick, calling it her “favorite snack” with a unique banana flavor.
Jennie described the snack, “in like a way that you wouldn’t expect a banana would taste.” The internet went wild and the mentioned snacks were trending globally and topping search queries. On top of all, Nongshim’s stock price surged for four days straight, resulting in a 264 billion won increase in the market capitalization.
The ‘Love Hangover’ singer is no stranger to making an impact. With her influence, she has consistently driven sales through the roof for multiple brands. It’s no wonder why she is a sought-after endorsement partner for brands.
Jennie has collaborated with many luxury brands such as Chanel, Jacquemus, Porsche, Calvin Klein, and more.
On the work front, Jennie has held shows “The Ruby Experience” in LA, New York, Seoul, and Paris to promote her latest release “Ruby”. Now that members are nearly done with their solo projects, they will resume BLACKPINK activities in the coming months. Lastly, Jennie and Lisa will perform as solo artists at this year’s Coachella next month.
