Park Bo Gum is preparing for a unique new role on television that will show a very different side of him. According to YTN, he has been cast in a new tvN variety program where he will transform into a barber and open a small salon in the countryside to provide haircuts for elderly residents.
Park’s connection to barbering dates back to his military service in 2020, when he served in the Navy Band and the Honor Guard Battalion. During that time, he studied and passed the National Technical Qualification Test for “Barber Technician,” and earned a professional license. He also actively cut hair for his fellow soldiers.
Dragon Pony member Ahn Tae Gyu, who served alongside him, once shared that Park Bo Gum personally cut his hair when he was a rookie.
The upcoming show will focus on elderly residents who often have fewer opportunities to visit beauty salons. It is reported that the “Good Boy” actor has even been preparing for additional beauty-related certifications in anticipation of the show.
Park Bo Gum is already familiar to viewers of variety shows. Early in his career, he co-hosted KBS2’s Music Bank with Irene of Red Velvet, where his polite charm drew attention. He later appeared in tvN’s Youth Over Flowers with the cast of Reply 1988, which gave audiences a glimpse of his natural personality. More recently, he joined JTBC’s My Name Is Gabriel and The Seasons – Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile on KBS2.
The new tvN program is expected to air next year, though the official title and premiere date have not been revealed.
At the same time, Park remains busy with other projects. He is in the middle of his “Be With You” fan meeting tour, which has taken him to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum will continue his tour in Latin America this September with stops in Monterrey, Mexico (September 17), Mexico City (September 19), São Paulo, Brazil (September 21), and Santiago, Chile (September 24).
