Netflix announces the production of ‘The WONDERfools’ (formerly known as ‘The Wonder Fools’) starring Park Eun Bin and Cha Eunwoo.
On November 1, the streaming platform shared photos from the script reading session with the cast of the drama.
Netflix’s new series, “The WONDERfools”, features a talented ensemble cast, including Park Eun Bin, Cha Eunwoo, Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, Lim Sung Jae, and Son Hyun Joo.
“The WONDERfools” is a thrilling comic action series that combines superheroes, humor, and 90s nostalgia. When a bizarre incident grants powers to a quirky group of friends, they must save Haesung City from evil forces.
Park Eun Bin, after her standout roles in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “Castaway Diva,” plays Eun Chae Ni, a free-spirited and quirky member of the ‘official gag squad’. She unexpectedly gained superpowers in 1999 and is expected to bring laughter to the audience with her performance.
Cha Eunwoo plays Lee Woon Jung, a specially hired civil servant in Haesung City, who leads a double life. At City Hall, he is a strict, rule-following professional, while outside, he transforms into a curious and mysterious investigator investigating the city’s mysterious disappearances.
Kim Hae Sook will play Kim Jeon Bok, Chae Ni’s wise and loving grandmother, who owns the iconic Big Hand Restaurant in Haesung City.
Choi Dae Hoon joins as Son Kyung Hoon, Haesung City’s self-proclaimed “truth-teller,” while Lim Sung Jae plays Kang Robin, the city’s lovable “fool.” After gaining flawed superpowers following an incident with Chae Ni, Kyung Hoon, and Robin team up with her to fight villains.
Director Yoo In Sik (“Extraordinary Attorney Woo “, “Dr. Romantic, Vagabond”) helms “The WONDERfools”, with scriptwriter Heo Da Joong (“Extreme Jobs”) and creator Kang Eun Kyung (Netflix’s “Gyeongseong Creature”, “Dr. Romantic” series).
The filming for the comic action series began last month and is expected to continue till May 2025.
