The production presentation for JTBC’s exciting new Saturday-Sunday drama Doctor Slump took place on January 25th. It was a star-studded event with the presence of cast & crew Park Shin Hye, Park Hyungsik, Yoon Park, Kong Seong-ha, and Oh Hyun-jong, who shared fascinating behind-the-scenes insights.
Doctor Slump has been generating a lot of buzz even before its premiere because Park Shin Hye and Park Hyungsik are finally reuniting in a drama after 11 long years since The Heirs in 2013.
In Doctor Slump, Park Hyungsik takes on the captivating role of star plastic surgeon Yeo Jeong-woo. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he experiences a mysterious medical accident that plunges him into the depths of despair.
On the other hand, Park Shin Hye portrays the character of an anesthesiologist named Nam Ha-neul. One day, she finds herself grappling with burnout syndrome, which leads her to embark on a journey of self-reflection.
Park Shin Hye shared the reason behind her decision to take on the role of Nam Ha-neul. She mentioned that she felt a deep connection with the character and was drawn to the portrayal of Haneul finding happiness in ‘small, simple joys.’
Doctor Slump marks Park Shin-hye’s return to the medical drama genre after a gap of 8 years since Doctors.
When asked about the difference between the two dramas, Park Shin Hye explained that Doctors focused on her character’s journey of becoming a doctor and uncovering medical accidents caused by her grandmother’s death.
On the other hand, Doctor Slump delves into the personal growth and self-reflection of her character, Nam Ha-neul.
Park Hyungsik revealed his reason for choosing Doctor Slump and saying, ‘I wanted to laugh.” He continued, “I was working on a work with serious, serious, and deep content, and at some point I felt like I wanted to laugh.”
Park Hyungsik described his excitement about reuniting with Park Shin Hye, “I felt like I had won a thousand battles. Filming was so fun that I wondered if I could do this.”
Park Shin-hye also felt the same way and could relate to his sentiments. She mentioned that because they were similar in age, they were able to film together in a very comfortable and relaxed manner.
Lastly, Park Hyungsik shared a meaningful message from the drama Doctor Slump. He emphasized, “When you’re really having a hard time, I think saying ‘I fell, it’s okay to rest’ can be of greater comfort.”

Doctor Slump is an incredible romantic comedy that beautifully portrays the story of two doctors who find themselves in the midst of life’s darkest moments. The talented duo of Producer Oh Hyun-jong, known for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, and writer Baek Seon-woo, who brought us What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, have joined forces to create this captivating series.
Doctor Slump is set to premiere on JTBC every Saturday and Sunday, starting January 27.
