Park Seo Joon is set to return to his romantic comedy roots with JTBC’s latest drama “Waiting for Gyeongdo”.
This will mark his first role in a romantic comedy since the huge success of “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?” in 2018.
JTBC’s new romantic comedy “Waiting for Gyuengdo” tells the story of Lee Kyung Do and Seo Ji Woo, former lovers who dated at ages 20 and 28 but parted ways eventually. Years later, they are reunited in a complicated web of fate.
Lee is now a reporter who exposed her husband’s infidelity, and she is the wife at the center of the scandal.
While Park Seo Joon is confirmed to be the male lead as Lee Kyung Do, “Squid Game 2” fame Won Ji An is in talks to play Seo Ji Woo.
Lee Kyung Do is a relatable and down-to-earth reporter at the Dongwoon Ilbo entertainment section. His ordinary life is turned upside down when he becomes embroiled in a scandal involving his first love, Seo Ji Woo, now married to someone else.
In short, it is a messy and emotional tale of a man who falls deeply in love with a woman he meets at a theater club at 20, only to experience repeated heartbreaks. Years later, they are reunited by chance, and the story beautifully explores the complexities of their past and present.
With “Waiting For Gyeongdo”, he will return to the TV screen after 5 years after his appearance in the acclaimed drama “Itaewon Class”. In the last couple of years, Park Seo Joon appeared in many hit movies such as “Dream” and “Concrete Utopia.”
Additionally, his appearance in the Netflix original “Gyeongseong Creature” with Han So Hee also received a lot of praise. The second season premiered in September 2024, portraying the role of Jang Jae Ho.
Dubbed “Rom-com King”, he has swooned audiences in many hit dramas such as “She Was Pretty”, “Fight For My Way”, and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?”.
The talented trio of director Lim Hyun Wook, writer Yoo Young Ah, and actor Park Seo Joon unite for an upcoming romantic comedy.
“Waiting for Gyeongdo” is coming to JTBC, with an exact release date to be announced soon.
