PLAVE hit a major milestone, becoming the first virtual group to graduate from Melon’s Weekly Popularity Award.
To mark the occasion, Melon shared a photo of PLAVE members with their shiny new trophies.
The Melon Weekly Popularity Award is a weekly contest where 20 popular songs compete for the top spot based on expert opinions and fan votes. If a song wins four weeks in a row, it earns a special ‘Honorary Graduation’ award, without the need for any additional voting.
PLAVE’s latest release, ASTERUM: 134-1, was a huge hit with fans, winning the Melon Weekly Popularity Award for four weeks in a row in March.
This makes PLAVE the first virtual artist to achieve ‘Honorary Graduation’, a prestigious title previously awarded to top K-pop groups like BTS, NCT DREAM, and SEVENTEEN.
This is the second time this year an artist has achieved this feat, after IU in February.
Previously, PLAVE made history by becoming the first virtual idol group to secure a major music show win with their second mini album ASTERUM: 134-1 in February.
Lastly, they hosted their first fan concert ‘Hello, Asterum!‘ last month, attracting a huge number of spectators.
