Looks like the fan who kissed BTS Jin without consent won’t be getting off the hook easily.
Police are conducting a preliminary inquiry into a sexual harassment incident reported at the ‘hug event.’
On June 18, the Seoul Songpa Police Station revealed that they launched a preliminary investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against the Astronaut singer, following an incident where fans attempted to forcefully kiss him.
A police official confirmed that the case is currently under investigation and no formal charges have been filed yet.
The official added that the victim’s wishes are being taken into consideration and the police are in contact with BIGHIT MUSIC, to ensure his well-being and cooperation throughout the investigation.
The police mentioned that cooperation from the agency is needed to identify the offender. Additionally, as Jin is a victim, not a perpetrator, his position on the matter is crucial.
The police stated that they must consider his perspective first, assess it, and then decide on the next steps. If he can participate, they will need to consult his doctor’s opinion. If not, they will need to reassess his position.
Jin has not yet shared his statement with the authorities, following an incident where fans allegedly attempted to sexually harass him at the hug event. The complaint against the offenders was filed by another BTS fan.
The incident occurred during a meet-and-greet session with 1,000 fans at the ‘2024 FESTA’ event on June 13.
