Police have summoned a Japanese woman in her 50s for investigation after allegedly crossing a boundary with BTS member Jin.
Back in June 2024, the woman received massive backlash from ARMYs and K-pop fans for kissing Jin without his consent during the free hug event. A lot of videos and photos of the woman harassing Jin went viral on social media at the time.
Ultimately, a civil complaint was filed for harassment against the woman. As per a report by Chosun Ilbo, she has been summoned by the police for investigation, and Jin is likely to appear before the police as well as a victim in the case.
The incident occurred during BTS’s 11th anniversary celebrations on June 13, 2024, when fans were invited to share a hug with the “Running Wild” singer.
Only a day after completing his military service, he was back celebrating with fans at BTS’ 11th debut anniversary event. However, the reunion was soured by an incident in which a Japanese woman kissed him without his consent.
The police investigation began on June 14, 2023, after a report was filed through the National Civil Service. Authorities were able to identify the suspect following a seven-month collaborative probe with Interpol, which began in July 2024.
The Songpa Police Station has filed charges of sexual harassment against the woman and has requested her cooperation. However, according to the Chosun Ilbo, the woman has yet to respond to the police summons.
On the work front, Jin has been actively involved in various entertainment activities since his military discharge. He made his comeback in November 2024 with the album “Happy”. Jin and J-Hope will reunite with BTS members, who are set to complete military service in June.
