PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ MV Has Hit 5 Billion Views on YouTube

PSY’s iconic music video for Gangnam Style has made history by becoming the first K-pop video to reach a staggering 5 billion views on YouTube. 

According to P-Nation, PSY’s agency, the music video for Gangnam Style has reached an incredible 5.025 billion views on YouTube on December 30.

Gangnam Style is the title track of PSY’s sixth studio album, PSY 6 PART 1, which was released in July 2012. This mega-hit song propelled PSY to incredible heights, as it spent a remarkable 7 weeks at the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This achievement made him the first K-pop artist to reach such a high position on the chart.

The Gangnam Style music video made history not once, but twice! It became the first YouTube content to surpass 1 billion and 2 billion views, which actually changed how YouTube counts views. In addition it’s been steadily gaining more views for a whopping 11 years.

According to PSY’s agency, he expressed his excitement by saying, “When I first hit 10 million views, I celebrated with my colleagues and dreamed of reaching 50 million views. Now, I’m 100 times happier than that dream!” 

On another note, PSY recently wrapped up his ‘All Night Stand 2023‘ event from December 22nd to the 24th. Looking ahead, PSY has exciting plans to continue spreading joy to fans all around the world through various activities in 2024.
