Fans have been looking forward to the announcement of Kim Ji Won’s new K-drama ever since “Queen of Tears” wrapped up in March 2024.
The 32-year-old actor will play the role of a genius surgeon for her next drama “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia”.
On February 14, Kim Ji Won was confirmed to star as the lead character, Kye Soo Jung, in the upcoming drama “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia”. The medical drama will be produced by Studio Dragon and Studio S.
In response, her agency HighZium Studio confirmed, “Kim Ji Won is positively considering a role in the drama “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia”.
In the drama, Kim Ji Won will play the role of Kye Soo Jung, a brilliant surgeon haunted by a dark past. Following her amazing performance as Hong Hae In in “Queen of Tears”, Kim is set to mesmerize audiences once again with a new and intriguing character.
It took the “Fight For My Way” actress a long time to sign a new project after “Queen of Tear”. On the other hand, her co-star Kim Soo Hyun immediately signed a new Disney+ original series “Knock Off”, which is set to premiere in the first half of this year.
Kim Ji Won rose to fame with her appearances in “My Libration Notes”, “Fight For My Way”, “The Heirs”, and “Descendants of the Sun”.
“Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia” will be directed by Lee Jung Lim (“Revenant”, “VIP”) and penned by Pyun Seung Gyun.
“Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia” is a gripping medical noir that follows the story of ‘Doctor X’ Kye Soo-jung, a brilliant surgeon who takes on the dark realities of the medical world with her exceptional skills. Production is set to begin in the second half of this year, with a potential broadcast on SBS currently in the works.
