Red Velvet leader Irene is preparing to release her first full-length studio album, Biggest Fan.
On March 9 at midnight, SM Entertainment dropped the album teaser for her debut studio album on social media platforms. Irene’s Biggest Fan arrives on March 30 at 6PM.
The 34-year-old K-pop star began her solo career in late 2024 after many years of performing as part of Red Velvet. She released her first mini-album, Like A Flower, in November 2024. With this release, Irene became the fourth Red Velvet member to debut as a solo artist, following Wendy, Joy, and Seulgi.
The Like A Flower EP includes eight tracks with a bright pop-dance title song of the same name. Other songs on the album include the dreamy “Summer Rain,” the R&B-inspired “Calling Me Back,” and fan-favorite B-sides such as “Strawberry Silhouette.” The EP also features two special tracks, “Ka-Ching” and “I Feel Pretty,” which Irene had previously performed during fan events in 2023 and 2024 before they were officially released in studio form.
Her album recorded a total of 336,805 sales in its first week, the highest first-week sales ever recorded by a female SM artist at the time. She is also actively releasing sub-unit albums with bandmate Seulgi; their last release was TILT.
Her upcoming album, Biggest Fan, is expected to show a more complete side of Irene’s artistry.
Meanwhile, Red Velvet as a group has been relatively quiet in terms of music releases. After Wendy and Yeri departed from SM Entertainment, the group did not make a comeback in 2025. Wendy and Yeri have signed with different agencies to pursue solo activities. Seulgi and Joy, still under SM, are also busy with solo endeavors.
According to the company’s current lineup plans, a group comeback is not expected during the first quarter of 2026.
