On September 21, Star News reported that Joy is reportedly discussing a potential partnership with an actor management company. It has sparked speculation about her future with SM Entertainment.

Contract renewal details about Red Velvet members have remained undisclosed since last year.

Red Velvet members (Wendy, Irene, Seulgi, Joy, Yeri) join SM in different years therefore, the timing of their contracts ending is different.

Due to this situation, there is growing interest in what lies ahead for Wendy, Joy, and Yeri, as well as whether Red Velvet will continue to promote as a full group. Last June, Joy publicly criticized SM, which sparked concerns about the possibility of her not renewing her contract.

At that time, Joy shared her frustration with SM Entertainment saying that she can not stay quiet anymore. She publicly criticized the label for not considering their opinion while editing the MV for Cosmic.

Since then, there have been speculations that she may part ways and sign with another agency.

However, Red Velvet debuted in August 2014 and is believed to have unofficially renewed its contract once as it has been actively promoting since 2021. It passed the maximum exclusive contract period for idol groups set by the FTC of 7 years.

On another note, Red Velvet is currently preparing for their next release. They are currently on a Fan-con tour to meet fans across Asia as part of the 10th debut anniversary celebrations.
