Red Velvet’s Wendy Signs with New Agency to Pursue Solo Activities 

Wendy has officially signed with ASND! 

This marks a new chapter in her career following the expiration of her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment. 

Earlier today (Friday, April 25), iMBC exclusively reported that the Red Velvet member has signed with ASND, home to fromis_9. The label also hinted at a new signing with an Instagram post, “We’re announcing a new artist today” on April 25 at midnight.

Moments ago, ASND officially announced Wendy as their new signed artist with a series of new profile photos and a message, “Achieve something never done before”.

The label announced, “Wendy, a member of Red Velvet, has signed an exclusive contract with Ascend. We are pleased to be working with an artist who has proven her exceptional abilities in various fields.”

They added, “We will actively support Wendy’s Red Velvet activities. We will do our best to ensure that Wendy, who has placed her trust in ASND, can shine even brighter.”

Formed in January, ASND is a new start-up and management agency that recently signed with five fromis_9 members. After departing from PLEDIS Entertainment, they signed with Park Jiwon, Baek Jiheon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nakyung, and Song Hayoung to continue fromis_9 activities as five.

Meanwhile, Wendy and Yeri decided not to renew their contract for individual activities with SM Entertainment, their agency since debut. 

Her journey in the entertainment industry began in August 2014 with Red Velvet and made her solo debut in April 2021 with the mini-album “Like Water”. She released her sophomore EP “Wish You Hell” last March. Wendy will now pursue solo music and entertainment endeavors under a new label and Red Velvet activities with SM Entertainment.
