The 2025 Miami Grand Prix became about more than just racing when Rosé made a surprise appearance. The BLACKPINK star sent fans into a frenzy with her flag wave and viral-worthy reunion with F1 legend Lewis Hamilton.
On May 4 (KST), the cast of “F1 The Movie” and musicians from “F1 The Album” were spotted at the event to promote the movie and accompanying album. Roddy Rich, Dom Dolla, Myke Towers, and Rosé arrived at the Miami International Autodrome. In addition, Lisa, DJ Khalid, Gordon Ramsay, and Timothée Chalamet also watched the high-octane race.

As an honorary starter for Sunday’s main race, she grabbed attention in a sleek racing-inspired ensemble – a racing-style leather jacket and shorts with PUMA classic Speed Cat sneakers. Rosé became the second K-pop artist, after bandmate Lisa, to wave the checkered flag at a Formula 1 event.
With this, she officially began the race while promoting “F1 the Album”, where she’s featured on the track “Messy” (out June 27).
In addition, cast members of the upcoming movie “F1 the Movie” (starring Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, and Damson Idris) also attended the event. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Kerry Condon and Simone Ashley were present at the event to celebrate their collaboration with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team.
The Rosé-Hamilton Hug That Broke the Internet
The weekend’s most talked-about moment came when Rosé and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton shared an enthusiastic backstage hug.
It is not the first time the 28-year-old K-pop star has met the popular racer, as they previously collaborated for Rimowa alongside Kylian Mbappé. Both serve as ambassadors for Rimowa and are featured in a campaign together.
Rosé met Lewis Hamilton at the Rimowa event in Seoul in April 2024 and engaged in a one-on-one interview, discussing travels, love for music, and their dogs.
Nearly a year later, the two reunited, shared a heartfelt hug, and caught up on each other’s lives. In the viral video, the F1 champ was heard saying, “I was just texting you”. With “Messy” dropping soon and Lewis Hamilton heading to Imola, both stars are booked and busy.
Meanwhile, Rosé will drop “Messy” on June 27 as part of the “F1 The Movie” soundtrack. She is also scheduled to begin BLACKPINK activities as the comeback and world tour is happening in the coming soon.
