Rowoon Military Enlistment Date and Discharge Details

Popular South Korean actor and former SF9 member Rowoon (Kim Seok Woo) is set to begin his mandatory military service in late July, as confirmed by My Daily. The enlistment news comes ahead of the release of his upcoming historical drama The Murky Stream, which will premiere in September without his participation in promotions.

After weeks of speculation about a June enlistment, it has been confirmed that the Destined With You star will start his mandatory military service in July. For those who need a refresher, all-bodied men in Korea must complete 18-21 months of military service, even actors, idols, and public figures.

Rowoon Military Enlistment and Discharge Dates

As reported by My Daily on May 27, Rowoon will enlist in the military on Monday, July 21, 2025, and will serve as an active-duty soldier after completing his basic training. Details about his assigned units and any special events on the enlistment day are yet to be announced by FNC Entertainment.

This year, ‘96 liner idols and actors will enlist in the military, including Kang Daniel, Woozi, Hoshi, Doyoung, and more. Born on August 7, 1996, the 28-year-old actor is due to begin his mandatory military service this year. 

Assuming no delays, Rowoon is tentatively scheduled to complete his service and be discharged on January 21, 2027.

Impact of Military Enlistment on His Career

His enlistment will pause his acting activities, including promotions for The Murky Stream, a historical thriller where he plays a rogue with a hidden past. 

Pre-recorded content (e.g., variety show appearances) may be released during his absence to keep fans engaged. After his discharge in 2027, he is likely to resume acting, with potential opportunities in both dramas and music (though he left SF9 in 2023 to focus on acting).

Rowoon rose to fame as a member of the K-pop group SF9, debuting in 2016. He has since transitioned to acting, starring in popular dramas like Extraordinary You, She Would Never Know, and Destined With You.

Meanwhile, Rowoon will connect with his fans through the “Before Blooming” fan meeting ahead of his military enlistment on July 21. It is scheduled to take place at Kwangwoon University’s Donghae Culture and Arts Center in Seoul on May 31, 2025.
