Ex-BIGBANG member Seungri received a massive public backlash once again after rumors of his appearance at the Indonesian ‘Burning Sun’ club event.
On August 9, it was reported that TSV Management, an international event management company, organized an event called “Burning Sun Surabaya” in Indonesia on August 31. According to the report, Seungri is scheduled to appear as a special guest at the event.
Seungri on ‘Burning Sun’ Event Appearance
The 33-year-old former K-pop star has categorically denied reports that he will attend an event called ‘Burning Sun’ on August 31st. In an interview with Daily Sports, he clarified, ‘The rumors are untrue. I’m not familiar with the location [Surabaya] mentioned, and I have no plans to participate in any event by that name.'”
Seungri denied the rumors, saying the truth will come out eventually. He stressed that the claims about the club are entirely untrue and hinted at taking legal action against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
Seungri on Hong Kong Club Opening
Seungri also denied rumors that he plans to open a club in Hong Kong, stating: “That’s entirely untrue. I have never considered it, never made any plans, and never mentioned it to anyone.” He believes the false reports are exploiting his past controversy for attention abroad.
Seungri on G-DRAGON Invitation Controversy
Seungri addressed a recent incident where he was spotted at a party in Cambodia in January. He clarified that he attended a private event to support a friend who had opened a beer pub.
Seungri shared that it was a personal event and did not get paid to be there.
Regarding reports that he invested in the pub, Seungri denied them as “groundless” and explained that he simply complimented the venue, saying it looked nice.
Seungri also apologized for mentioning G-Dragon’s name during the event, admitting that he was “drunk on the atmosphere” and made a thoughtless comment. He confessed that it was inappropriate and assured that it would not happen again.
Lastly, Seungri debuted with BIGBANG in 2006 and left the group in 2019 due to his involvement in the “Burning Sun Gate” scandal. He was indicted on nine charges in 2020, including gambling, prostitution, and embezzlement. He served 1 year and 6 months prison sentence before his release on February 9, 2023.
