SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups and Mingyu (CxM) are preparing for their long-awaited debut as a new subunit, set to release their first album in September. Pledis Entertainment confirmed the news, marking this as SEVENTEEN’s fourth official unit following BSS, Jeonghan x Wonwoo, and Hoshi x Woozi.
On September 3 at midnight, PLEDIS dropped the first teaser for their unit album, HYPE VIBES, on social media platforms.
Mingyu and S.Coups’ unit mini-album, HYPE VIBES, will hit music platforms on September 29, and pre-orders will begin on September 3 at 11 AM KST.
Both rappers are original members of the group’s Hip-Hop Team, but this will be the first time they collaborate as a standalone unit, CxM. Their album, HYPE VIBES, is expected to show their rap, production, and songwriting strengths, areas in which both idols have made notable contributions to SEVENTEEN’s discography.
Filming for the music video wrapped in Los Angeles, where the two were also seen at a Dodgers game. Industry insiders suggest the duo’s project will highlight both powerful hip-hop energy and their undeniable chemistry as performers.
The timing of this debut is also significant, as it coincides with SEVENTEEN’s 10th anniversary. The group released their fifth studio album HAPPY BURSTDAY and is set to open on their NEW_ world tour. The new unit release is expected to add to the celebratory year and offer CARATs more diverse music from the group.
This is the first subunit comprised exclusively of SEVENTEEN’s Hip-Hop Team, which otherwise includes Wonwoo and Vernon. Their new collaboration not only spotlights their rap prowess but also their track record in songwriting. Both artists have been heavily involved in SEVENTEEN’s creative output.
Previous subunits—BSS (Seungkwan, DK, Hoshi), Jeonghan x Wonwoo, and Hoshi x Woozi—explored vocal and performance dynamics.
Amidst the group members and unit activities, SEVENTEEN is also navigating the military enlistment phase. Members Hoshi and Woozi are scheduled to enlist in mid-September, while S.Coups is exempt due to a prior knee injury, and Mingyu has yet to be enlisted (expected 2026). This gives the duo time to focus on their album release.
Meanwhile, CxM will drop their 1st mini-album, HYPE VIBES, on September 29.
