SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan has been named the public ambassador for Jeju Island, his beloved hometown.
Seungkwan officially kicked off his tenure as Jeju Island’s ambassador today, November 19, 2024, at a ceremony held at the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Communication and Cooperation Center.
This marks an exciting new chapter for the 26-year-old vocalist, who proudly represents his hometown.
He expressed his pride in being a Jeju resident since childhood. He recalled representing Jeju at the UNESCO Youth Forum last year. The SEVENTEEN member said he was deeply moved and grateful to be appointed as Jeju’s ambassador.
After his appointment, he contributed to the protection of southern right whales via the Jeju Hometown Love Donation.
Seungkwan has consistently promoted Jeju globally since his debut with SEVENTEEN 2015. He has filmed various entertainment programs, pictorials, and advertisements to introduce its beauty to the world.
Notably, SEVENTEEN’s “God of Music” performance video, filmed in Jeju, was showcased at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum.
PLEDIS Entertainment and Jeju Province signed an MOU in September to co-promote K-pop content and cultural tourism.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will release their 4th Japanese single on November 27. They will kick off a dome tour in Japan, with stops in Nagoya (Nov 29-30), Tokyo (Dec 4-5), Osaka (Dec 12, 14-15), and Fukuoka (Dec 19, 21-22).
