August 11 marked a big day for K-pop fans as SHINee’s Key, Jackson Wang, and Jeon Somi all made high-profile comebacks. Each artist returned with fresh music, from full albums to mini albums.
All three releases on August 11 show strong fan support across different markets. Key set a new solo day-one record, Jackson combined a global tour rollout with his new album, and Jeon Somi continued to build her solo discography with hands-on creative input.
Week-one tallies and chart placements will give a fuller picture, but as of now, the first-day numbers are in.
Key (SHINee) — HUNTER
Key returned about 11 months after his last release, this time with his third full-length album HUNTER, on August 11. The album posted 55,389 copies on Hanteo in its first day, a new personal best for his solo career. It topped previous releases, including Pleasure Shop (51,186), Good & Great (47,500), and Gasoline (29,604).
The 10-track album includes HUNTER, Trap, Strange, Want Another, No Way!, GLAM, Lavender Love, and more. HUNTER also included two collaborative songs, Perfect (ft. Seulgi) and Infatuation (ft. Eunho).
His previous solo release, the mini-album Pleasure Shop, came out in September 2024, making this comeback roughly eleven months later.
Jackson Wang (GOT7) — MAGICMAN 2
Jackson Wang returned three years after Magic Man, his second full album, released in September 2022. Wang’s third full album MAGICMAN 2 opened with 32,154 first-day Hanteo sales on August 11.
The album’s tracklist features songs such as High Alone, Not For Me, Access, GBAD, Made Me a Man, and more. The Hong Kong rapper collaborated with popular Indian Punjabi singer, Diljit Dosanjh on BUCK. For his third album, Jackson Wang is pairing the release with a MAGICMAN 2 World Tour that begins in Bangkok in October and runs through several Asian cities including Macau, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Tokyo.
Jeon Somi — Chaotic & Confused
Jeon Somi’s second EP, Chaotic & Confused, arrived on August 11 and recorded 16,794 first-day Hanteo sales. She recorded her highest first-day sales with full album XOXO (released November 2021) by selling 30,798 on release day. Her last physical album release, Game Plan (August 2023), sold 9,411 copies.
The five-track EP includes the lead single Closer and B-sides Escapade, Chaotic & Confused, and Delu. She made a comeback after a year of releasing an upbeat single, Ice Cream, in August 2024. Jeon Somi dropped a pre-release single, Extra, before the full album.
She took an active role in the EP’s creation, credited on the lyrics and co-compositions for several tracks.
With these strong first-day numbers, all three are poised for promising chart runs and continued success in the weeks ahead.
