On August 28, SM Entertainment released a statement, stating, “We have recently confirmed that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offense.”
Announcing his removal from the team, the label said, “After investigating the facts of the matter, we recognized the severity of the situation and determined that it is no longer possible for Taeil to continue his activities with the team.”
SM Entertainment added, “Following discussions with Taeil, we have decided on his departure from the team. Taeil is currently cooperating fully with the police investigation, and we will provide further updates as the situation progresses.”
Taeil’s sudden departure from NCT has left fans shocked, especially since the reasons behind his exit were previously unknown.
