With My Youth, Song Joong Ki makes his drama comeback following his role in the highly acclaimed 2022 series Reborn Rich, which is set to return for a second season. Although he made a cameo as Vincenzo in Queen of Tears last year, fans looked forward to seeing him lead a K-drama, particularly a romantic one.

Chun Woo Hee, on the other hand, returns after the overwhelming success of The Atypical Family and The 8 Show. As the release date nears, here’s what you need to know about My Youth.

‘My Youth’ Release Date and Streaming Platform

My Youth, starring Chun Woo Hee alongside Song Joong Ki, premieres on September 5, 2025, and will air every Friday at 20:50 KST on JTBC. The series will consist of 12 episodes, with two consecutive episodes broadcast weekly. International viewers can stream My Youth on Viu in selected regions.

The drama takes over JTBC’s Friday time slot from The Nice Guy and will be followed by Love Me in December 2025.

Plot Overview

The story centers on Sun Woo Hae (Song Joong Ki), a former child actor whose early fame exposed him to the darker side of the entertainment industry. Now living a quiet, fulfilling life as a novelist and florist, he finds peace in his daily routines, from visiting flower markets at dawn to tending his plants. His calm existence is disrupted when Sung Je Yeon (Chun Woo Hee), his first love, returns after 15 years.

Je Yeon, who once grew up in a wealthy household, now works as a determined and ambitious team leader at Feel Entertainment. Her pursuit of success unexpectedly reconnects her with Woo Hae, forcing both to confront the past they had left behind.

Characters and Cast

  • Song Joong Ki as Sun Woo Hae: A former child actor who has stepped away from the spotlight to embrace a quiet life as a florist and novelist. His character embodies resilience and the pursuit of inner peace after early trauma. Song has delivered standout performances in Descendants of the Sun, Vincenzo, Hopeless, and A Werewolf Boy.
  • Chun Woo Hee as Sung Je Yeon: Woo-Hae’s first love, now a determined entertainment manager whose ambitions are tempered by lingering feelings for Woo Hae. Chun rose to stardom with her roles in Be Melodramatic, Delightfully Deceitful, and The Atypical Family.
  • Lee Joo Myung as Mo Tae Rin: A former child actress struggling to find her identity and place in the entertainment industry. Lee has previously appeared in notable dramas such as Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Kairos, and Like Flowers in Sand.
  • Seo Ji Hoon as Kim Seok Ju: An heir to an entertainment company whose privileged life hides emotional complexity. Viewers may know Seo from his appearances in The Midnight Studio, My Lovely Liar, and Revenge of Others.

Supporting roles include Jo Han Chul as Woo Hae’s father, Jin Kyung as Seok Ju’s mother, and Nam Da Reum and Jeon So Young portraying the younger versions of Woo Hae and Je Yeon.

Creative Team and Production

My Youth is directed by Lee Sang Yeob, known for Familiar Wife and Yumi’s Cells, and written by Park Si-Hyun of Run On fame. The series is co-produced by SLL and High-Zium Studio, with music composed by Studio Curiosity.

‘My Youth’ Trailer

Released in late August 2025, the teaser trailer captures the drama’s melancholic yet hopeful tone. It shows Sun Woo Hae surrounded by flowers, reflecting his peaceful present, while flashes of his childhood acting days and reunion with Je Yeon hint at unresolved emotions.
