Song Kang and Kim So Hyun may be reuniting on screen for the first time in five years.
On February 24, Korean media reported that the two actors are in talks to lead the upcoming romance drama White Scandal, based on a web novel. Both of their agencies confirmed that the project is one of the works currently under review.
If confirmed, the drama will mark their long-awaited reunion since starring together in the 2019 Netflix hit Love Alarm, where they played Kim Jo Jo and Hwang Sun Oh.
White Scandal tells the story of Ji Eun Seol, a once-promising child actress whose life falls apart after she takes the blame for her older brother’s crime. Though her acting career is destroyed, she refuses to give up on her dream and works quietly as a road manager.
Her life changes when she meets Dan Yi Hyeok, a top star and the illegitimate son of the powerful NB Group. He is also connected to the past scandal that ruined her. To fulfill his late mother’s final wish and avoid being caught in a fierce family succession battle, Dan Yi Hyeok proposes a contractual relationship to Ji Eun Seol.
Song Kang has been offered the role of Dan Yi Hyeok, one of South Korea’s biggest stars and an heir to a conglomerate family. The drama would mark his first romance project since completing his mandatory military service in October last year. He is currently filming the youth music drama Four Hands, set to premiere on tvN in the second half of 2026, where he plays a piano prodigy named Kang Bio.
Before enlisting, Song starred in multiple romance dramas, including My Demon and Love Alarm. Many fans have been waiting to see him return to the romance genre, and White Scandal could become his first love story since his discharge.
Kim So Hyun has starred in My Lovely Liar, Serendipity’s Embrace, and Good Boy.
The drama is written by Kim Ga Eun, known for her work on Call It Love, and direction will be handled by Kim Chul Kyu. Kim previously led acclaimed dramas such as Mother and Flower of Evil.
White Scandal is currently in the casting stage. Filming is planned to begin in the second half of the year after Song Kang completes work on Four Hands. The broadcast channel and release schedule have not yet been confirmed.
