Scheduled to air in the second half of 2025, the drama follows the complicated relationship between a national actor past his prime and a fallen star reporter, set against the fast-paced world of Korean entertainment media.

The story centers on Lim Hyun Joon (played by Lee Jung Jae), a well-known actor who’s lost his sense of purpose and is desperate to reinvent himself as a serious melodrama lead.

Lim Ji Yeon plays Wi Jeong Shin, a decorated political reporter who ends up in the entertainment section after a major scandal costs her everything.

Lee Jung Jae returns to TV for the first time in six years, bringing with him the weight of his global success in Squid Game. Now that Squid Game has concluded its run, fans can see him in more refreshingly diverse roles. His pairing with Lim Ji Yeon, celebrated for her performances in The Glory and The Tale of Lady Ok, is a major highlight.

The drama also reunites writer Jung Yeo Rang (Doctor Cha, Five Enough) and director Kim Ga Ram (Nevertheless, Good Partner).

The script reading session for Nice To Not Meet You, revealed by tvN on August 1, showed off the chemistry between the lead pair and an ensemble of notable names.

Kim Ji Hoon plays Lee Jae Hyung, a former baseball player and now president of the sports magazine Sports Eunseong. On the other hand, Seo Ji-hye takes on the role of Yoon Hwa-young, the youngest-ever head of the entertainment department, and Jeong-shin’s sharpest rival and Jae Hyung’s ex.

The supporting cast includes

  • Choi Gwi Hwa as Lim Hyun Joon’s longtime manager CEO Hwang
  • Jeon Sung Woo as the quirky screenwriter Park Byung Gi
  • Kim Jae Chul as Lee Dae Ho, Jae-hyung’s ambitious half-brother
  • Oh Yeon Seo makes a special appearance as global superstar Kwon Se Na, a woman with past ties to Lim Hyun Joon
  • Na Young Hee appears as Sung Ae-sook, Hyun-joon’s mother, and a once-iconic actress from the 1970s
  • Jeon Soo Kyung plays Oh Mi Ran, Jae-hyung’s glamorous mother with a background in high society
  • Jin Ho Eun as Wi Jeong Shin’s brother
  • Kim Hyun Jin as Lim Seon Woo, Hyun Joon’s sister, and a medical student with acting dreams of her own.

Nice to Not Meet You is produced by Studio Dragon, Studio & New, and Artist Company (Lee Jung Jae’s company).

Meanwhile, Nice To Not Meet You will premiere in the second half of 2025 on tvN and stream on Prime Video.
