BTS’s SUGA Applied for the Termination of Military Service Postponement

In a recent development, BTS member SUGA has submitted a request to terminate the postponement of his military service. After the successful completion of the D-Day tour on August 6, it was kind of expected that the BTS rapper would enlist for military service. Still, this decision has taken fans by surprise and sparked discussions.

On the last day of the tour, SUGA broke down while performing Snooze and My Dear Friend. Before the tour began, it was reported that the K-pop star was using this tour as an opportunity to say goodbye. 

As expected, BTS agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, released a statement today confirming that SUGA has initiated the process for the termination of military service postponement.

We would like to inform the fans that SUGA has begun his military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement.

We will inform you of further updates when the time comes.

Fans were saddened to hear the news of the SUGA military enlistment. However, many have wished the BTS member, whose real name is Min Yoongi, to fulfill his duty safely. Jin and j-hope have already enlisted; SUGA and RM are predicted to join next. 

Due to his shoulder injury, it is reported that the “Haegeum” rapper will enlist in military service as a public service worker. He is exempt from doing certain physical activities that are commonly done in the military service due to his medical history. 

In his livestream, SUGA asked ARMYs to wait a bit. Furthermore, he stated that it would be a lie if he said he was going to be performing soon. Ever since then, fans have been speculating about the upcoming enlistment, and finally, it was confirmed by BIGHIT MUSIC.

Rather than expressing disappointment, fans have praised SUGA’s dedication to fulfill his obligation and have flooded social media platforms with messages of love and encouragement.

Meanwhile, SUGA became the first BTS member to go on a solo tour to say goodbye to fans worldwide. After releasing the final part, “D-DAY” of his trilogy in April, he embarked on a world tour and held 17 shows in Asia and 11 in North America. He is likely to begin his 21-month alternative service next month, with scheduled discharge in June 2025. During this period, he will not participate in any entertainment activities.
