Netflix has unveiled the first poster, teaser trailer, and release date for its fantasy romantic comedy Genie, Make a Wish, led by Suzy and Kim Woo Bin. The project stars two of Korea’s most loved stars who are reuniting almost a decade after their appearance in Uncontrollably Fond.
Genie, Make a Wish, starring Bae Suzy and Kim Won Bin, will premiere worldwide on October 3, 2025, right before Chuseok.
The drama follows Genie (Kim Woo Bin), a mystical lamp spirit who returns to the world after being trapped for a millennium. Unlike the playful or friendly figures often seen in folklore, this Genie carries a darker identity. His new master is Ga Young (Suzy), an emotionless woman who suddenly finds herself holding the lamp.
With three wishes in her hands, Ga Young begins a journey filled with unexpected danger and an unusual romance.
Unlike typical depictions of genies, Kim’s character is revealed to be Iblis, also called “Satan,” giving the series a darker twist. In the trailer, he delivers a chilling prophecy: “Little girl made of clay. I will scour the world and find you again, remember this, I will seek you out, and my name is Iblis.”
Joining the Genie, Make A Wish cast are Ahn Eun Jin as Mi Joo, Noh Sang Hyun as Su Hyun—Genie’s brother and longtime rival. Plus, Ko Kyu Pil as the jaguar-like aide Yaleed, and Lee Joo Young as Min Ji, Ga Young’s only trusted friend.
The first promotional poster shows Ga Young standing in a glowing desert with the lamp in hand. As golden sands swirl, the Genie emerges, and the tagline “Come now, to corruption” teases the darker edge of this fantastical romance.
Genie, Make a Wish is scripted by hitmaker Kim Eun Sook, the screenwriter behind The Glory, Descendants of the Sun, and Heirs. It is co-directed by Ahn Gil Ho (Marry My Husband, The Glory) and Lee Byung Hun (Chicken Nugget, Extreme Job). Filming took place from February 3 to October 24, 2024, with 12 episodes planned.
