Love is in the air for the South Korean entertainment industry!
Film director Kim Byung Woo (45) and actress-singer Ham Eun Jung (37), formerly of the K-pop group T-ara, have announced that they are getting married.
The couple confirmed the news on October 16. They revealed that their wedding will take place on November 30 in a private ceremony attended only by family members and close friends.
In a statement released through her agency, Ham Eun Jung shared,
I have promised to spend the rest of my life with someone very special to me. My fiancé is a non-celebrity, and our wedding will be held privately in a warm and intimate setting, attended only by our families and close friends.
Director Kim Byung-woo also confirmed the news in a phone interview with JTBC Entertainment News, saying modestly,
It’s true that I’m getting married (to Ham Eun-jung). Other than that, I don’t have anything further to share. I’m sorry.
The two reportedly met through mutual acquaintances in the film industry and developed their relationship naturally over time. Although they have not worked together professionally, it is said their bond grew stronger through mutual respect and trust.
Friends of the couple describe them as “warm, grounded, and deeply respectful of each other’s work.”
Despite their wedding plans, both Kim Byung Woo and Ham Eun Jung are keeping their schedules packed this winter.
Kim, a graduate of Hanyang University’s Theater and Film Department, is known for his gripping storytelling and high-concept projects. He made a remarkable debut in 2013 with The Terror Live, which earned him several Best New Director awards.
He later directed the action-thriller Take Point and this summer’s blockbuster Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, a high-budget film starring Lee Min Ho and Ahn Hyo Seop. His next project, the Netflix sci-fi disaster film The Great Flood, premiered on September 18, 2025, just weeks after his wedding.
Meanwhile, Ham Eun-jung, who began her career as a child actress in 1995, has successfully transitioned from her idol days with T-ara into a full-fledged acting career. After starring in the daily drama The Queen’s House on KBS, which ended in September, she is already gearing up for her next project: the upcoming MBC daily drama The First Man.
