“Taxi Driver” has become one of the most recognizable K-dramas of the last few years. The show, now in its third season, is based on the webtoon “The Deluxe Taxi (Red Cage)” by Carlos and Lee Jae Jin. It won viewers over with its stories about victims who turn to a secret revenge service after the legal system fails them.
The Rainbow Taxi team steps in when no one else does, and that idea has connected with audiences everywhere. After two strong seasons that pulled in high ratings and received praise from critics, the series is officially coming back with “Taxi Driver 3.”
The new season keeps the show’s main concept but also expands the types of cases the team will take on. Below is a full look at what fans can expect, including the release date, cast lineup, plot details, and the creative team behind it.
“Taxi Driver 3” Release Date
“Taxi Driver 3” will premiere on November 21, 2025, on SBS every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST following the drama “Would You Marry Me?” The schedule stays the same as Season 2, so viewers will get two episodes each week.
Internationally, the show will stream on Viu as a Viu Original in all Viu regions except South Korea and mainland China. This is the same arrangement as the previous season, which performed extremely well on the platform. The season is planned for 16 episodes, which means the finale should air around January 10, 2026, if there are no breaks or interruptions.
Plot Overview
The basic setup of the show stays the same. The Rainbow Taxi team still responds to requests from people who have tried everything but couldn’t get justice. The show is often described as giving a “cider” feeling, which refers to the sense of relief or satisfaction viewers get when the team steps in.
Season 3 will keep that tone but widen its focus. The team will now take on cases involving corruption and abuse of power in the K-pop industry, professional sports, and the gaming world.
With these new targets, the missions may be more complex and high-stakes. “Taxi Driver 3” will also introduce a character played by Hong Kong actor and Mirror member Edan Lui. His character forms an unexpected alliance with Kim Do Gi, which would be fun to watch.
Cast Lineup
Fans will be happy to know that all core members of the Rainbow Taxi team are returning for “Taxi Driver 3”
- Lee Je Hoon is back as Kim Do Gi, the former special forces officer who works as the main driver.
- Kim Eui Sung returns as Jang Sung-chul, the head of the Rainbow Taxi operation and the director of the Blue Bird Foundation.
- Pyo Ye Jin will once again play Ahn Go Eun, the team’s skilled hacker.
- Jang Hyuk Jin and Bae Yoo Ram also return as Choi Kyung Goo and Park Jin Eon, the mechanics who prepare the vehicles and technology used in each mission.
- Edan Lui joins as a new addition and will make his first Korean drama role. His character’s alliance with Do-gi is described as unpredictable.
“Taxi Driver 3” Trailer
The new trailer for “Taxi Driver 3” promises a big season ahead. The teaser hints that the story will go back to the origins of Rainbow Transportation and Kim Do Gi. The season will explore “the beginning and the end of Taxi Driver.”
Lee Je Hoon will return with many of his well-loved disguises, including “Teacher Hwang In Seong.” He also revealed new personas like “Adventurer Do Gi” and a “cute, unexpectedly naive” version of the character.

Creative Team
Behind the scenes, the writing remains in the hands of Oh Sang Ho, who also wrote the previous seasons.
“Taxi Driver” Season 3 introduces a new director, Kang Bo Seung. Previous seasons were directed by Park Joon Woo and the duo of Lee Dan and Jang Young Seok. Kang Bo Seung now takes over the challenge of preserving the show’s tone.
How the Previous “Taxi Driver” Seasons Performed
To understand why “Taxi Driver” became a hit, it helps to look at its earlier seasons. Season 1, released in 2021, set the foundation. It presented cases based on real-life crimes and showed the Rainbow Taxi team taking justice into their own hands. The season ended with one of the highest ratings for an SBS Friday-Saturday drama.
Season 2, which aired in 2023, grew even bigger. It became the most-watched miniseries that year and further expanded the world of the show. Both seasons were praised for handling social issues like workplace abuse, school violence, corruption, and scams remarkably well.
With everything now confirmed, “Taxi Driver 3” is set to surpass the success of its previous seasons.
Mark your calendar for November 21 when “Taxi Driver” season 3 premieres on SBS and Viu.
