K-pop group THE BOYZ is turning the page on a new chapter.
After parting ways with their agency, the group is gearing up to perform under a new name. Negotiations between THE BOYZ and IST Entertainment have stalled over trademark issues.
Both parties have failed to reach an agreement and they will perform under a new name in the future.
On November 15, THE BOYZ cut ties with IST Entertainment and signed an exclusive deal with ONE HUNDRED.
The new agency released a statement on December 4, saying, “During the negotiations for the trademark rights, we were unable to accept the unreasonable conditions presented by IST Entertainment, which they have maintained for 7 years.”
They continued, “We have done our best to negotiate the terms, and THE BOYZ have also worked hard to maintain their trademark rights for the sake of their fans. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach a satisfactory agreement. We express our deepest regret to IST Entertainment.”
Despite the breakdown in negotiations, ONE HUNDRED is open for further discussion until the contract termination date.
They promised, “We’ll approach the trademark negotiations with an open mind. Even if the negotiations fail, we will thoroughly prepare for THE BOYZ to continue their activities under a better brand name.”
As per reports, ONE HUNDRED and THE BOYZ have recently filed trademark applications for names like “The Boys”, “The New Boyz”, and “TNBZ.”
Notably, THE BOYZ’s contract with IST Entertainment is set to expire on December 5. Following this, the group will continue promoting under the new agency.
