After his discharge from the military, Park Bo Gum was noticeably absent from the K-drama scene.
The Love in the Moonlight actor has finally opened up about his reason for stepping away from the spotlight – and it’s not what anyone expected!
He revealed that he’s been prioritizing his education, putting his acting career on hold to focus on his studies.
On June 4, the 30-year-old talked about his upcoming movie Wonderland ahead of the release.
He is returning to the screen with Wonderland after a two-year hiatus after completing his military service in 2022.
When asked why he did not appear in movies and dramas after military service, he shared, “After I was discharged from the military, I heard people around me say, ‘Why aren’t you on TV these days?’ Even though I wasn’t on TV, I lived a busy life.”
Park Bo Gum pursued graduate studies, focusing on writing his thesis and ultimately earning a master’s degree. He promised to be more active starting this year.
He’s set to venture into entertainment with JTBC’s My Name is Gabriel, under the direction of producer Kim Tae Ho. The show, premiering in June, follows a distinct concept of living incognito for 72 hours, with Park Bo Gum traveling to Dublin, Ireland for the experience.
In addition, he is set to star in a highly-anticipated drama, When Life Gives You Tangerines, alongside IU.
Lastly, Wonderland starring Park Bo Gum, Suzy, Choi Wooshik, Tang Wei, and Jung Yumi is set to release on June 5.
