Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon headline the upcoming crime-action thriller The Worst of Evil. The poster unveiled both the release date and the intense, shadowy vibe of the drama’s 1990s Gangnam setting. The Worst of Evil, consisting of 12 episodes, is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 27 and conclude on October 25.

The series centers on Park Jun Mo (Ji Chang Wook), an undercover police officer dispatched to the Gangnam Union. He is part of the criminal network at the heart of a high-stakes drug operation spanning Korea, China, and Japan.

Battling both external threats and internal conflict, Jun Mo must play dual roles, criminal and cop, while navigating the dangerous loyalties around him. He assumes the alias “Kwon Seung Ho,” the purported cousin of a fallen enforcer, in order to blend into the cartel.

Wi Ha Joon plays Jung Gi Cheul, once a nightclub DJ, who rises to power as a feared drug boss controlling Gangnam. Known for his charm and calculating strategies, Gi Cheul’s rise from enforcer to cartel leader drives much of the drama’s tension. The series also stars singer BIBI and Lim Si Mi.

Directed by Han Dong Wook (Man in Love), written by Jang Min Suk (Local Hero, Sword in the Moon), and produced by Baram Pictures and Sanai Pictures under Kakao Entertainment, The Worst of Evil blends action, crime, and noir. The production team carefully recreated the gritty aesthetics of 1990s Gangnam with deep tones and cinematic visuals. It draws influence from classic Hong Kong noir films. Filming began in August 2022 and wrapped in late April 2023.

Ji Chang-wook brings decades of experience to the role, from his breakout in Empress Ki to high-stakes parts in Healer, The K2, and more recent hits like If You Wish Upon Me and Lovestruck in the City.

Wi Ha Joon has also built a strong reputation, particularly through his breakout role in Squid Game, where he played a determined and morally complex police officer investigating a dangerous underworld.

With 12 episodes, each ranging from approximately 52 to 69 minutes, the series is packed with suspense, betrayal, and moral dilemmas.

Mark your calendar for September 27 when The Worst of Evil starts premiering on Disney+.
