TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Beomgyu has become the victim of plagiarism after an independent artist allegedly copied his self-produced solo song, “Take My Half.”
The song was dropped on July 21 as part of TXT’s 4th full-length album, ‘The Star Chapter: TOMORROW.’ The controversy began when an independent musician known as Gravey released a track titled “Take My Hand.” Fans immediately noticed that the new release sounded nearly identical to Beomgyu’s “Take My Half.” Its melody, instrumental arrangement, and overall structure were nearly the same.
Within hours, fans compared the two songs side by side, posting clips on X and tagging both BIGHIT and HYBE to take action. By October 14, following mass reports by fans, “Take My Hand” was removed from Spotify and other streaming platforms.
BIGHIT Responds to the Plagiarism Accusations
On October 16, BIGHIT MUSIC released a statement to address the plagiarism issue. The label confirmed that they had identified “a clear similarity” between Beomgyu’s track and the allegedly plagiarized song. The agency “conducted an internal review” and stated, “After careful examination, we’ve determined that there is a clear similarity and are currently in discussion with our legal representatives to pursue appropriate legal action.”
The company emphasized that an artist’s creative output is a “unique asset that deserves full respect.” They added, “We will take all necessary measures to protect the artist’s legitimate rights.”
Beomgyu’s Reaction
Beomgyu himself addressed the situation directly during a Weverse live broadcast on October 13. Rather than expressing anger, he took a sarcastic tone, saying:
“Anyway, I heard that someone amazingly covered my solo song. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I’m talking to the company about it.”
This wasn’t the first time Beomgyu’s original work had been copied. His earlier mixtape “Panic” had reportedly faced a similar situation. This left fans concerned that the idol’s creative efforts were not being adequately protected.
Two days later, on October 16, BIGHIT MUSIC officially confirmed the plagiarism and announced their next steps.
On the work front, TXT will continue their 4th world tour “Act: TOMORROW” with shows in Saitama (November 15-16), Aichi (December 6-7), and Fukuoka (December 27-28)
