Get ready for a heartwarming and humorous journey as My Troublesome Star (also known as My Golden Star) gears up for its premiere. The drama stars industry veteran, Uhm Jung Hwa and Song Seung Heon as well as rising talent Jang Da Ah.
In particular, Uhm Jung Hwa is returning to the TV screens after two years since her last appearance in the hugely successful Doctor Cha in 2023.

My Troublesome Star, led by Uhm Jung Hwa, premieres on August 18, 2025, and will air twice a week every Monday and Tuesday at 10:00 PM KST on ENA and Genie TV. Fans in select international regions can stream the show on Viu. This 12-episode series spans until September 23, 2025.
Plot Synopsis
The series follows the extraordinary story of Im Se Ra, once South Korea’s youngest-ever Best Actress, before disappearing mysteriously at the peak of her career. After Twenty five years, she finds herself living as Bong Cheong Ja, an ordinary middle-aged woman who has no recollection of her once-glamorous life.
As she prepares a comeback show, she seeks to rediscover her identity while navigating unfamiliar surroundings.
Meanwhile, Dokgo Chul, a former violent crimes detective now relegated to traffic duty, poses as Im Se Ra’s (Bong Cheong Ja’s) manager in an attempt to get his life back on track.

- Uhm Jung Hwa (Bong Cheong Ja / Im Se Ra): A legendary powerhouse in Korean entertainment, Uhm plays the fragmented star seeking to regain her name and life. She previously led the hit cable series Doctor Cha (2023), which became one of the highest-rated dramas in JTBC’s history. Her other works include Our Blues, Witch’s Romance, Wife, Beautiful Sin, and more.
- Song Seung Heon (Dokgo Chul): Taking on the role of this ex-detective in disguise, Song marks his comeback to the romantic comedy genre. This marks his reunion with Uhm Jung-Hwa after ten years. He has played notable roles in dramas such as Black Knight, Dinner Mate, Black, and Player.
- Lee El (Go Hee Young): She plays a supporting actress who surged to stardom while Im Se Ra was gone. Lee recently received praise for her acting skills in Mr. Plankton and When The Stars Gossip.
- Oh Dae Hwan (Kang Du Won): Now a high-powered entertainment exec, he was once Im Se Ra’s road manager. Oh has played supporting roles in Law and The City, Shadow Detective, Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, and more.
- Jang Da Ah (Young Im Se Ra): Plays the star’s younger self in flashback sequences, shedding light on her past fame. Jang, famously known as sister of IVE’s Wonyoun, ventured into acting with Pyramid Game last year.
