Step into the dark and intriguing world of “The Trunk”, Netflix’s newest series. Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin star as a “contract couple” whose fake marriage unravels into a gripping mystery.
On November 12, Netflix dropped the main poster and trailer to give a glimpse of the new thriller Kdrama. Netflix’s upcoming series “The Trunk” has announced its release date as November 29.
“The Trunk” Plots and Characters
The Netflix series ‘The Trunk’, premiering on November 29, is a mystery melodrama that centers around a secret marriage service revealed by a trunk discovered at the lakeside.
It follows the unique marriage story of a man and a woman, while also delving into the connections and emotions of various characters involved in ‘fake marriage’. The series touches on themes such as love, compassion, obsession, desire, and feelings of loneliness and emptiness.
Seo Hyun Jin stars as In Ji, an employee of NM, a contract marriage provider. NM offers fixed-term, one-year spouse contracts. In-Ji has completed four such marriages. For her fifth, she meets Jeong Won (Gong Yoo), a music producer haunted by past pain and loneliness.
Jeong Won’s life was shattered by his ex-wife Seo Yeon’s departure. She had arranged their marriage through NM. Now, Jeong Won begins his second contract marriage with In Ji. As they spend time together, they grow accustomed to each other.
However, their lives take a dramatic turn when a mysterious trunk is retrieved from a lake.
Main Trailer and Poster
The poster beautifully captures the subtle tension between Noh In Ji and Han Jeong Won, a couple bound by circumstance, not love.
The trailer hints at a gripping murder mystery surrounding a mysterious trunk found floating on a lake. Amidst this mystery, Han Jeong Won enters into a fake marriage with Noh In Ji, an employee of a temporary matchmaking company.
Their arrangement is fraught with tension, as Han Jeong Won asks, “Still, what’s the point of a fake marriage?” Noh In Ji answers, “Maybe they wish to hide their loneliness so desperately, they are willing to cling to a facade.”
As their complex emotions unravel, Gong Yoo admits, “That woman bothers me, she makes me uneasy.” The trailer concludes with his confession, “I need you. Who knows? We might be destined to be together.”
Creative Team
Acclaimed director Kim Gyu Tae (‘Our Blues’, ‘Secret Lovers’, ‘It’s Alright, This is Love’) teams up with writer Park Eun Young (‘Hwarang’, ‘Housewife Detective’) to make this thrilling mystery melodrama.
“The Trunk” starring Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix on November 29.
