What Comes After Love, a melodrama romance drama starring Lee Se Young and Kentaro Sakaguchi follows the complex and emotional journey of a Korean woman and a Japanese man who fall in and out of love in Japan, only to reunite five years later in Korea.

As the drama nears its premiere, more and more details about the cast lineup, plot, and release date have been revealed.

‘What Comes After Love’ Release Date

The highly-anticipated drama What Comes After Love premieres on September 27, 2024, and will air every Friday at 8 PM (KST) on both Coupang Play and Viu.

Plot

What Comes After Love tells the story of a Korean student studying in Japan who falls in love with a local. However, their relationship faces challenges and ultimately ends due to differing views on love and practical issues. Five years later, they unexpectedly reunited in Korea.

The drama is adapted from the 2005 novel Sarang Hooae Oneun Geoddeul (Things That Come After Love) by Hitonari Tsuji and Kong Ji Young.

• Lee Se Young as Hong, a Korean woman who falls in love with a Japanese man in Japan while studying there
• Sakaguchi Kentaro as Jungo, a Japanese man who falls in love with Hong in Japan

In March, Coupang Play dropped photos and a video clip from the script reading session, where all the cast members gave a glimpse of their characters.

Coupang Play has been dropping teasers since earlier this month to build up the hype for the drama. On August 2, the What Comes After Love official trailer was dropped, which left fans excited for the premiere.
