BABYMONSTER’s main vocalist, Rami, is currently on hiatus due to serious health concerns. It has been nearly three months since the 17-year-old singer paused all her activities. She missed BABYMONSTER’s comeback promotions for the July single, Hot Sauce, and the Asia tour.
While fans miss her performances and activities with the girls, they want her to prioritize her health and take as much time as she needs to rest and recover. Since she suffers from a serious medical condition, it has left many MONSTIEZ concerned about her health.
Rami Went on Hiatus in May Due to Worsening Health
Rami temporarily paused all activities following a diagnosis of pneumothorax, commonly known as a collapsed lung. On May 9, 2025, YG Entertainment officially announced that she would not take part in the Asia leg of their debut world tour, citing the need for complete rest per medical advice.
YG stated that since her debut, Rami has been dealing with persistent health issues. Despite that, she remained active, showing a strong will to “repay the fans’ love and support.” YG explained that she pushed through her schedule while “undergoing ongoing treatment and care.”
However, the agency admitted that her condition “has not significantly improved.” As a result, doctors have now recommended she “take absolute rest for the time being.”
How BABYMONSTER Is Managing the Tour Without Rami
Even as Rami recovers, BABYMONSTER pressed forward with their Hello Monsters world tour, now performing as a six-member group: Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rora, and Chiquita. They have adapted stages and added cover performances to suit the revised lineup.
Understanding Pneumothorax
Pneumothorax occurs when air enters the space between the lung and chest wall, causing lung collapse. Rami shared that she experienced sharp chest pain during dance rehearsals, literally narrowly escaping a complete collapse.
Despite her discomfort and guilt over delaying practice, she persisted in training and only notified medical staff after symptoms worsened.
This occurred just as the group was preparing to perform their debut track “SHEESH,” and was later revealed in behind‑the‑scenes footage from their dance practice sessions.
Fan Support
Fans familiar with the condition stressed its severity and urged her to prioritize recovery. Her health requires full attention, something fans and YG Entertainment both seem to prioritize. As she takes the necessary time to recover, fans are hopeful for a healthy comeback and continue to show unwavering support.
On the contrary, some antis believe that her hiatus is due to plastic surgery. These rumors were quickly debunked given her known pneumothorax diagnosis.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER will continue full-fledged activities with a 2nd single next month and an EP on October 1.
