Wheesung (aka Realslow) has passed away at the age of 43. With a career spanning over two decades, the Korean R&B singer-songwriter was known for his contributions to the Korean music scene.
On March 10, his agency, Tajo Entertainment, released a statement saying,
“We are deeply sorry to share the heartbreaking and sad news. Our artist Wheesung passed away on March 10. He was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead.
We, including his family, fellow artists, and staff, are mourning his sudden passing. We are also deeply saddened to share this news with fans who have shown him endless love and support. We ask that you pray for Wheesung’s soul to rest in peace.”

They also requested that the public refrain from spreading unconfirmed rumors and speculative reports, out of respect for the deceased family.
Wheesung was embroiled in multiple controversies in his career spanning over two decades. He faced charges related to administering propofol, a controlled substance, on multiple occasions starting in December 2019. In 2020, he was found unconscious in a Seoul building after taking sleeping pills.
The K-pop star received a suspended sentence, community service, and mandatory drug treatment lectures. Following this, Wheesung resumed his music career and continued to engage with fans through various performances and events.
Born in February 1982, Wheesung launched his music career in 2002 with his debut album ‘Like A Movie’. He went on to gain widespread popularity with various hits. Wheesung is notably credited as one of the pioneers who helped bring R&B music to the mainstream in Korea.
Following the unexpected death of singer Choi Wheesung, his upcoming joint concert with singer KCM has been canceled.
