The K-drama “When the Stars Gossip” has managed to capture the attention of global audiences on Netflix, despite struggling to gain traction in its home country of Korea.
While the viewership ratings hover around a modest 2-3%, the show has achieved success on the popular streaming platform.
In just 2 weeks since its release, “When The Stars Gossip” starring Lee Min Ho and Gong Hyo Jin secured a spot in Netflix’s Top 8 Global series (Non-English).
According to Netflix’s latest rankings, “When The Stars Gossip” placed 8th globally among non-English series, with 2.4 million views and 10.8 million hours of viewing time from January 6-12.
FlixPatrol, a global OTT content ranking service, reports that “When The Stars Gossip” has broken into the TOP 10 in 55 countries worldwide, including Canada, Australia, Japan, India, and Saudi Arabia. The show also secured the 8th spot in Netflix’s global TV show TOP 10 ranking.

The drama has a unique storyline set in a space station, however, it has underperformed in terms of viewership ratings domestically.
The first episode garnered modest ratings of average of 3.8% in the metropolitan area and 3.3% nationwide. Although the second episode showed a slight increase to 3.9%, the series stagnated in the 2% range with the third and fourth episodes recording 2.2% and 2.8%, respectively.

It follows Eve (Gong Hyo Jin), a boss on a zero-gravity space station, and her encounter with a mysterious visitor, (Lee Min Ho), who has a secret mission. The series is available on tvN, TVING, and Netflix.
