“Riverdale” heartthrob Charles Michael Melton is making waves in the K-pop scene as the leading man in BLACKPINK Jennie’s latest music video, “Love Hangover”.
Moments ago, the 29-year-old K-pop sensation dropped the second pre-release single “Love Hangover” on all music platforms. It is a collaboration with Dominic Fike and stars Charles Melton. After the MV dropped, fans could not help but praise Melton for being the perfect co-star for Jennie’s sultry new single.
Who is Charles Melton?
Born on January 4, 1991, in Juneau, Alaska, Charles Melton’s father, Phil, is American with English roots, while his mother, Sukyong, is a Korean immigrant who moved to the US in 1990.
The family spent five years in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, before settling in Manhattan, Kansas. He graduated from Manhattan High School in 2009 and briefly attended Kansas State University, where he played football.
However, at 20, Charles dropped out of college to pursue acting. He moved to Los Angeles in 2012 and initially found success as a model, working with top brands like Dolce & Gabbana and MAC. His early acting roles included guest appearances on popular shows like “Glee” and “American Horror Story”.
Charles Melton’s Rise to Fame
While Charles Melton has been in the entertainment industry since 2012, his breakout role came in 2017 when he joined the CW series “Riverdale” as Reggie Mantle, replacing Ross Butler. He became a series regular from season three onwards.
Melton made his film debut in 2019, starring as Daniel Bae in “The Sun Is Also a Star”, a romantic drama based on Nicola Yoon’s novel. In 2023, Melton co-starred alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in Todd Haynes’ Netflix drama “May December”. He also received a Golden Globe nomination for his amazing performance in “May December”
Melton has several upcoming projects, including “Love Child” with Elizabeth Olsen, “Warfare”, a war movie from A24, and “BEEF” season 2, where he will star alongside Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan.

Jennie’s new song “Love Hangover” is a pre-release song from her debut solo album “Ruby“, out March 7.
