For years, ARMY wore ‘OT7 or NOTHING’ as a badge of honor.
As BTS matures and members pursue solo careers, fan loyalty is increasingly split. They wholeheartedly support their favorite members without considering the impact on others. For solo stans, equal support is mathematically impossible for winner-takes-all categories.
The 2025 AMA nominations have exposed a growing divide in the BTS fandom. RM and Jimin are competing in the same category, Favorite K-pop Artist. Jimin, RM, Rosé, ATEEZ, and Stray Kids are in the running for the 2025 American Music Awards.
The voting began on April 23 to select the winners and will continue till May 15 (local), with the award ceremony being held on May 26.
This has ignited heated debates across stan Twitter, as dedicated solo stans and OT7 supporters clash over voting strategies. Fans are divided on who to vote for as both BTS members are competing as solo artists.
While the big “OT7” accounts are pushing fans to vote for RM as he did not receive any award for his critically acclaimed music during the year-end domestic award ceremonies. They have even coordinated with other fandoms, like ILLIT, to increase votes and help him win his first AMA award as a solo artist.
While Jimin bagged multiple daesangs last year, his solo fans are refusing to vote for the BTS leader and are hell-bent on making him win instead.
Individual fanbases are exchanging hateful and harsh comments while showing support for their biases. Some of these comments include

“Why everyone is against RM? I don’t get this??”
“Y’all ignoring RM for last 3 years shouldn’t come with the expense if preventing Jimin from getting his deserved award”
“It’s not about RM winning to them. They just want to make sure Jimin loses”
Meanwhile, American Music Awards 2025 winners will be officially announced on March 26. The award ceremony will be broadcast on CBS and live streamed on Paramount+.
