Wi Ha Joon has revealed the shocking lengths he went to prepare for his role in the globally popular Netflix Original “Squid Game” season 2.
On January 7, the 33-year-old Kdrama actor gave an interview to media outlets in Seoul. During his interview, he confessed to losing 3kg in just 2 days for his role.
Wi Ha Joon shared, “To film the scene where I wake up in episode 1, I did not drink water for two days. I also didn’t shave my beard.” He added, “I lost 3kg in two days, and it was really tough.”
He continued, “I’ve tried dieting a lot, but even if I lose weight, it doesn’t matter if I end up bloated. The only way is to get rid of water weight. I remember feeling dizzy on the shooting day and having an electrolyte drink and porridge afterward.”
Wi Ha Joon returned as Jun Ho in “Squid Game 2”, who continues his relentless search for his brother In Ho from Season 1. After being shot by In Ho and left for dead at sea, Jun Ho’s life was saved thanks to Captain Park.
He expressed gratitude for being part of the show again after season 1. This time, the “Little Women” actor wishes to attend domestic and international award ceremonies with the “Squid Game” cast. After last season, he could not attend award ceremonies due to filming commitments.
The second installment follows Ki Hoon (Lee Jung Jae) who seeks revenge and rejoins the game and his confrontation with the Frontman (Lee Byung Hun).
Meanwhile, ‘Squid Game 2’ is currently available to stream on Netflix, with Season 3 slated to premiere in summer.
