Mino has completed his second police summons investigation regarding allegations of negligent service during his mandatory alternative service as a social worker.
On February 17, A police official announced during a National Investigation Headquarters briefing that the WINNER member was summoned for questioning for the second time on February 15.
The police will soon decide whether Mino is guilty or not, after reviewing all the evidence. They thoroughly analyze evidence from the workplace and communication records.
Previously, he was investigated by the Mapo Police Station in Seoul for allegedly violating the Military Service Act. The rapper was booked on January 23, but during the investigation, he claimed he followed the rules and had no issues with his service.
The outcome of the police investigation will determine whether Mino will be required to re-enlist in the military. Currently, he has not received any notification from the Military Manpower Administration. A decision on his future plans is expected to be made after the investigation is completed and the allegations against him are resolved.
The “Run Away” rapper was classified as Grade 4 in his physical examination for military service. Therefore, he enlisted as a social worker at Mapo Facility Management Corporation in March 2023. Mino later transferred to Mapo Community Service Facility in March 2024.
However, just before his scheduled discharge, allegations surfaced in December 2024 that he had been neglecting his alternative military service duties. Specifically, it was claimed that he had taken frequent sick leave and was insincere about attending work.
It was revealed that Mino had been undergoing treatment for panic disorder and bipolar disorder, which may have contributed to his absences.
In December last year, YG Entertainment responded to the allegations, stating that his sick leave was due to ongoing treatment for a pre-existing condition. As per the label all other absences were taken in accordance with regulations.
The Military Manpower Administration requested a police investigation into Mino’s alleged negligent alternative service. Following this, the police searched Mapo Community Service Facility, where he was employed, and his home. They obtained CCTV footage and analyzed his commute times.
