Fans of the popular TVING original series “Yumi’s Cells” are in for a treat!
Reports Suggest that season 3 is officially underway, and the acclaimed actress Kim Go Eun is set to reprise her starring role as Yumi. In the first two seasons, she left viewers in awe with her authentic portrayal of the quirky Yumi.
On March 31, a source from the entertainment industry told JTBC Entertainment, “‘Yumi’s Cells’ Season 3 is being produced three years after the end of Season 2. Tving is going all out to make this happen, and Kim Go-eun will also star in Season 3. I heard they’re working hard to maintain the unique color and tone of the series.”
Regarding this, Studio Dragon, the production company behind the “Yumi’s Cells” series, stated, “It’s true that we’re producing Season 3. We’ve offered Kim Go Eun the role of Yumi again, and she’s currently reviewing it.”
A representative from her agency, BH Entertainment, also shared, “She has received an offer and is reviewing the project.”
“Yumi’s Cells” is a romantic drama that tells the story of Yumi’s daily life, love, and growth through the perspectives of her cells. The show is unique because it combines real-life acting with 3D animation. It was a huge hit domestically and globally for its exciting yet cute storyline.
Season 1 was a success, and Season 2 was even more fun and praised for staying true to the original webtoon. Now, fans are looking forward to Season 3, which promises to introduce Yumi’s new love interest. In Season 1, Ahn Bo Hyun starred as the male lead, whereas GOT7’s Jinyoung played the love interest in Season 2.
