ZEROBASEONE (ZB1), the nine-member project group, is in active discussions regarding the extension of their contract. Formed through Mnet’s 2023 survival show Boys Planet, their 2.5-year contract period is originally set to conclude in January 2026.
Their agency, WakeOne Entertainment, confirmed that talks are ongoing with each member’s respective label about prolonging the group’s activities beyond the initial 2 years and 6 months. However, no final decision has been reached.
Since their debut in July 2023, ZEROBASEONE has built a strong track record, with each of their five EPs surpassing one million sales. Marking a major career milestone, the group released their first full-length album, Never Say Never, on September 1, 2025.
Its title track Iconik, accompanied by a visually striking music video, symbolizes the group’s evolution. In the video, the members are shown breaking through panels depicting their Boys Planet selves, representing their journey from trainees to established artists.
During a recent press showcase for the album, leader Sung Hanbin addressed the ongoing contract negotiations.
We’re having as many conversations and meetings as possible to discuss the direction we’re heading in. Nothing has been finalized yet. What matters most is presenting a meaningful first full-length album to the public and our fans. We want to complete these promotions in a healthy and happy way and continue to grow moving forward.
Sung Hanbin
Park Gunwook highlighted the bond among the members:
All nine members of ZEROBASEONE treasure our team. We’re not just a team, but we’re also close as people. Fans will continue to see the nine of us laughing and having fun together.
Park Gunwook
Youngest member Han Yujin also shared his thoughts:
We are openly discussing many possibilities together. I believe we will make the best choice in the direction that fans want. But for now, nothing has been decided.
Han Yujin
Despite uncertainty about their long-term future, ZEROBASEONE is firmly focused on their current promotions. Alongside the album release, the group is preparing for their upcoming world tour, Here & Now, which kicks off in October 2025.
For now, their first full-length album, Never Say Never, is available across major music platforms as of 6 p.m. on September 1. The release, paired with their tour, signals a powerful new chapter for the group, even as questions about contract renewal remain.
If no extension is made, ZEROBASEONE’s official group activities will end in January 2026, per their original contract.
