The K-pop world is about to get a whole lot more exciting! After a two-year hiatus, the Idol Star Athletics Championship (ISAC) is reportedly making its highly anticipated return.
From fierce competitions to hilarious moments, ISAC is the ultimate celebration of K-pop’s competitive spirit.
As reported by News1 on June 20, ISAC is set to return this Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holiday. This means that after a two-year break since the 2022 Chuseok special, the 2024 ISAC is finally back to thrill audiences once again.
This year’s ISAC is scheduled to start filming in early August, and the team is currently busy reaching out to various athletes and idols to participate in a wide range of events.
It is expected that fans will get to see different sides of idols as they participate in a range of sports like futsal, golf, and relay.
ISAC started as a Chuseok holiday special in 2010, gaining immense popularity as an annual holiday program where idols showcased their talents in various sports.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Lunar New Year episode transitioned to a talk show format revisiting highlight, since then, the event has not been held.
After the pandemic, ISAC made a comeback in 2022 during the Chuseok holiday. However, the show didn’t air during last year’s holiday season and this year’s Lunar New Year, leaving fans wondering about its fate. However, now, ISAC 2024 is reportedly happening this Chuseok after a two-year break.
