Sion from NCT WISH recently opened up about his casting journey, revealing that he was discovered on Instagram.
Interestingly, he linked his unique casting experience to Wonbin from RIIZE. Sion (NCT Wish) and Wonbin (RIIZE) are two SM Entertainment idols who share a unique connection – they were both discovered through Instagram casting by the same staff.
On September 29, Sion and Yushi guested on NOPOGY, a YouTube show hosted by NCT’s Jungwoo and MONSTA X’s Shownu.
During the show, the 18-year-old K-pop idol was asked how he was discovered. He shared his journey, saying, “I was cast via DM on Instagram, that person also cast Wonbin.”
He further added, “I first got the Instagram DM, casting me, so I thought it was a fraud. They called me after the DM and said they were from SM.”
Sion revealed how far an SM representative went to cast him, sharing, “It was too difficult for me to go to Seoul alone, So I told them I don’t think I can go, so they came all the way to Mokpo (his hometown). At some dance academy, I even took a camera test.”
He revealed the agency renting the dance academy in Mokpo for his audition.
Wonbin and Sion are close friends and two of the most talented idols of 4th generation. They have been close since their trainee days and went to Mokpo together before their debut.
Sion is the leader and lead vocalist of the final NCT unit, NCT WISH. The group, consisting of 6 members, debuted with the single WISH on February 21 this year. They recently made their comeback with their debut mini-album, Steady on September 24.
